JEWISH MUSEUM CELEBRATES
CENTENARY OF FEDERATION

Melbourne’s Jewish Community will be celebrating the Centenary of Federation with a cultural function at the Jewish Museum of Australia. The event, titled “Mazeltov Australia” is a joint venture organised by the Jewish Museum of Australia, together with the St Kilda Hebrew congregation.

On the occasion of the Centenary celebrations of the Federal Parliament in Melbourne, this event provides the opportunity for the exploration and celebration of the diversity that have helped build our country, said Mr Danby, Federal Member for Melbourne Ports.

Federal Parliamentarians from all over Australia will be in attendance.

"We are delighted to welcome our country’s leaders and to share with them the richness of our Australian Jewish heritage as portrayed in our Museum ", said JMA President Zelda Rosenbaum.

" We are honoured to welcome our country’s elected leaders to our historic Synagogue in the Federation 130th year of its existence coinciding with the 100th year since Federation. Our Synagogue, spiritual home of Sir John Monash and a youthful Sir Zelman Cowen, together with Australia’s Jewish community, enthusiastically acknowledges and celebrates the privilege of Jewish involvement and contribution to the development of Australia", said Rabbi Heilbrunn, Chief Minister, St Kilda synagogue.

"The Museum, the Congregation and myself are particularly delighted that Sir Zelman Cohen, former Governer General, will be giving a speech (titled "Monash to the Millenium - the Jewish contibution to Australia since Federation") at this celebration of our culture and contibution to Australia", Mr Danby concluded.
